My software uses several timer controls operating at once but sometimes it seems like some of the timers stop for no reason, sometimes after the program had been left running without problem for days. When they stop I must force the program to close with task manager as the "X" just "turns it invisible" but it remains in the processes list.
How can I identify the cause to prevent this and if ever I can't find the cause is it a bad idea to make a "monitoring" app that would force close and restart the main program if it sees it stop? Secondly, I'm quite sure most anti virus programs would detect this as a virus (a program starting another program is normally considered a virus by paranoid anti virus programs). Should I do this despite the fact my users would get fake virus warnings or is there a way to prevent this from being detected as a virus?
