Cross platform VB7 interpreter

This is just an idea I've had. I always liked the VB6 style syntax better than the class based syntax of VB.NET. I would really like to see a cross platform interpreter that is VB6 compatible and also implements some more modern functions like threading, 64-bit, and themes. I was actually thinking of making one, but it would be a massive project that I definitely could not do on my own. Basically, I'm just wondering how much interest there'd really be, or am I just part of a lost breed.

For my idea, the entire project would be programmed in C++ and use wxWidgets for the framework. I would focus on it being only an interpreter to start off with so it would compile to a VB6 compatible Pcode which could run on all platforms that support the wxWidgets. What do you think?
